Disbarred Kentucky lawyer admits fraud after allegedly taking $400,000 from estate

Misappropriation of Funds

On 51 occasions between October 2018 and August 2023, Logan transferred a total of $239,600 from Estes’ estate to his personal accounts, then used the money for his benefit. According to his plea agreement, Logan also forged deeds to show that the estate had sold a piece of property in Frankfort, which was actually being collected by him.

Loan and Misuse of Funds

Logan applied for a $116,000 loan against the property using a forged deed and fraudulent lease. He used the loan proceeds for his benefit, according to his plea. Logan later repaid $75,000 to the estate, but was still disbarred after admitting to misappropriating $416,475 from Estes’ estate over about five years.

Sentencing

Logan faces up to 30 years in prison, although his sentence will likely be less under advisory guidelines. U.S. District Judge Gregory F. Van Tatenhove scheduled Logan to be sentenced in March.

Resignation and Disbarment

Logan requested to resign from the practice of law under terms of permanent disbarment, which was approved by the Supreme Court in October.
