Samsung Fold Series Outpaced by Honor Magic V6 Battery Capacity and Charging Speeds

The Honor Magic V6 has emerged as a significant contender in the foldable smartphone market, with its battery specifications drawing particular attention. According to leaked certification documents from China’s ‘Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT)’, the device is expected to feature two battery variants: a 7,150mAh capacity model (PNM-AN20) and a 6,850mAh version (PNM-AN10). These capacities surpass the Honor Magic V5’s 5,820mAh (international) and 6,100mAh (China) batteries, which supported 66W wired and 50W wireless charging. The Magic V6’s larger battery is paired with faster charging speeds—120W for the 7,150mAh variant and 80W for the 6,850mAh version—marking a substantial leap in power delivery capabilities.

The Honor Magic V6’s battery advancements are complemented by hardware upgrades. The device is confirmed to be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset, an improvement over the Snapdragon 8 Elite used in the Magic V5. This upgrade is expected to enhance performance while potentially improving power efficiency. Additionally, the Magic V6 includes in-house C1+ wireless and E2 power management chips, which may further optimize energy consumption and charging efficiency.

Industry analysts suggest the Magic V6’s battery capacities could position it as a formidable competitor to Samsung‘s Galaxy Z Fold series. While Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold6 (2024) and Galaxy Z Fold5 (2023) models feature 4,400mAh batteries with 25W wired charging, the Honor Magic V6’s capacities are roughly 60-100% higher, with charging speeds 3-5 times faster. This disparity highlights a potential shift in the foldable market, where battery life and fast charging have become critical differentiators.
