In a shocking display of innovation, Volonaut’s Airbike promises to take the world by storm with its jet-powered hoverbike design, boasting speeds of up to 124 mph and an unparalleled sense of freedom. But at what cost?
The Airbike is a Poland-based startup’s latest creation, a jet-powered hoverbike that looks like it was ripped straight from the dense underbrush of Endor in the 1983 Star Wars movie ‘Return of the Jedi.’ With its advertised speeds of up to 124 mph and proprietary stabilization system, this bike promises an unparalleled sense of freedom and thrill.
Design and Features
The startup’s website boasts about the Airbike‘s unique riding position, which provides an unobstructed 360-degree view for the rider. This allows them to quickly become ‘one with the flying machine‘ and experience a sensation of complete freedom. However, details about the bike’s design, propulsion systems, and operational capabilities are scarce.
The Science Behind the Airbike

According to New Atlas‘ back-of-the-envelope calculations, the bike is unlikely to be able to fly for more than two to three minutes at a time. This is due to its purported weight, which is seven times lighter than a typical motorcycle. While this information provides some insight into the Airbike‘s capabilities, much remains unknown.
Volonaut‘s Plans and Pricing
Volonaut claims that the Airbike will hit the market in the ‘near future.’ However, pricing details are not available. The startup does, however, offer preorders for both this year and next year, which have reportedly been sold out.
In contrast, a different Poland-based startup has already released its flying motorcycle, the Jetson ONE. This sleek contraption features eight electric motors that generate north of 100 horsepower and can fly for up to 20 minutes at a time. While not as flashy as the Airbike, it is closer to entering the market, with preorders sold out both this year and next year.
The Jetson ONE is a compact, electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) aircraft designed for personal use.
Weighing only 238 pounds, it features a sleek design and advanced autopilot system.
The ONE can reach speeds of up to 87 mph and has a range of approximately 15 miles.
Its battery-powered propulsion system enables quiet and emission-free flight.
Developed by Joby Aviation, the Jetson ONE is part of a growing trend in eVTOL technology for urban air mobility.
