Investigation Underway
The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission is leading the investigation into the crash, but no new information was available over the weekend. According to FWC public information director Hailee Seely, preliminary information indicates that two airboats collided near Ochopee, injuring multiple passengers.
Company’s Response
In a statement dated Friday, Dec. 13, Wooten’s Everglades Airboat Tours expressed its regret over the collision and offered its sympathies to those affected. The company said it immediately contacted local emergency authorities after the accident occurred and began working with the FWC and sheriff’s office to aid in their investigations.
Reopening for Business
Despite the incident, Wooten’s Everglades Airboat Tours reopened for business on Saturday. However, the company did not respond to requests for comment from the Naples Daily News.
The investigation into the crash is ongoing, with assistance from the Collier County Sheriff’s Office, Greater Naples Fire and Rescue, and Collier County Emergency Medical Services.
